Rewards are one of the most integral parts of LootLocker, living within many of our core features like Triggers, Leaderboard resets, Progressions, Catalog listings, Twitch Drops, and Reward Campaigns. Developers and publishers use them to hand out assets, currencies, progression points and platform keys across their games.
Until now, nearly all of those rewards lived inside the game. But today that's changing. Today we're adding three new reward types: Metadata, Discord Roles and Files, and a brand new way to notify your players of the rewards.
Why rewards matter
The best player relationships don't stop at the game's main menu. IO Interactive is a good example of this: players earn rewards in-game, like skins, and outside the game, like wallpapers. Both strengthen the same relationship, just in different places.

For a publisher with a catalog, this matters even more. A player who enjoys or finishes one of your games is the best candidate for your next one, and rewards are one of the few touchpoints you control across all of them. The more places a reward can land, the larger the surface area your relationship exists in.
Metadata as rewards
Metadata rewards write an entry directly to the player's profile when they earn the reward. You set the key, type and value, and add tags to filter on later.
This turns a reward into a flag you can build on. Mark a player as a founding supporter, record that they completed a seasonal event, or note which specific decision they made in-game. Because Metadata is a shared system, that info is available wherever you need it, including your email CRM through metadata key mapping or Reward Campaigns.

Discord roles as rewards
Your community probably already lives on Discord. Now your rewards can too.
With Squire, our Discord bot, installed in your server, you can grant a Discord role as a reward. Pick the role from a dropdown when configuring the reward, and players get it automatically when they earn it. Top the leaderboard, get the champion role. Finish the campaign, unlock the veterans channel. This works even at a catalog level where a portfolio-wide loyalty program can grant Discord roles for a publisher's most dedicated fans.
It's a small thing for the player that does a lot for your community: status that everyone can see, earned in your games.

Files as rewards
File rewards let you grant any file a player can download. Upload it, set the filename players will see, and attach it to whatever you want players to do to earn it.
Wallpapers, soundtracks, art books, behind-the-scenes PDFs. The kind of extras that used to need a separate storefront or a manual email campaign can now be part of your reward flow. In-game, players receive the file through the SDK. Outside the game, it arrives by email... more on that below.

Rewards by email
When configuring a reward, you can now tick a box to send it by email to your White Label Login players.
This is the piece that ties everything together. A player can earn a reward anywhere you've set one up and receive it in their inbox, whether or not they're in the game at that moment. Every reward type is supported: files arrive as downloads, platform keys arrive ready to redeem, and everything else is listed so the player knows exactly what they got.

The email is yours, not ours. You can customize the logo, colors, copy, sender name and sending domain, so players see your game or your publisher brand rather than LootLocker. It's part of the same branding work that lets you style your hosted sign-in and playtest pages.
