We’re excited to announce the re-release of one of LootLocker’s most versatile features—Triggers! This feature has undergone a complete overhaul and is now fully integrated with the same cross-feature rewards system that powers all our latest features. Triggers let you create and manage in-game actions tied to specific rewards, opening up countless opportunities to engage your players.

What’s New?

In addition to a major upgrade in performance and stability, Triggers 2.0 are now connected to LootLocker’s unified rewards system, making it easier than ever to connect in-game actions with each reward type, like progressions, catalog items, or virtual currencies.

Whether you want to reward players for reaching milestones or encourage repeated engagement, Triggers offer a flexible solution to offload complex game logic and deliver instant results.

Limited vs. Unlimited Triggers

Triggers come in two forms to suit different types of in-game actions:

Limited Triggers can only be activated a set number of times per player. For example, you might use a Limited Trigger to reward a player for completing a set number of tasks, or the first time they enter a region in an open world game.

Unlimited Triggers can be activated repeatedly, making them ideal for ongoing rewards. An example might be rewarding a player with an asset or virtual currency every time they defeat an enemy or in a mobile game for watching a video ad.

Deprecating Legacy Triggers

With the introduction of the new Triggers feature, the original version of Triggers has been scheduled for deprecation in two years (on November 4th, 2026) giving you plenty of time to transition to the new system. We’ll be here to assist with any questions or help you need during the migration process.

What’s Next?

We’re not stopping here—Triggers will continue to evolve. Soon, we’ll introduce frequency limits, allowing Triggers to be activated a set number of times per hour, day, week, or month. We’ll also be adding cooldowns, so a Trigger can only be activated again after a predefined amount of time has passed. Looking further ahead, we envision the ability to set Triggers as a Reward Type for Progressions, Catalog Items, and even Leaderboard resets, unlocking even more possibilities and use cases.
