Today, we’re excited to launch our Twitch Drops integration into the wild!

LootLocker has always focused on bridging the gap between players and the content they own — and the systems that reward them. Supporting Twitch Drops felt like a natural evolution of that mission. Even better, we were able to build much of the functionality on top of the systems we developed for Unified Player Accounts, making the integration smooth and familiar for those already using LootLocker.

Why Twitch Drops Matter

What we discovered while building this feature is that implementing Twitch Drops can be surprisingly complex — especially for smaller studios or live service games without large backend teams. That’s likely why we’ve only seen broad adoption among AA and AAA titles.

We wanted to change that.

With LootLocker + Twitch Drops, we’re making it possible for any game to benefit from one of the most effective engagement and retention mechanics available today. Whether you're running a major live ops campaign or just want to drive more awareness during a launch window, Twitch Drops can now be a part of your strategy — no matter your studio size.

How It Works

Setting up Twitch Drops with LootLocker is simple:

  1. Connect your Twitch Developer account to your game in the LootLocker console and configure a Drop Campaign in the Twitch dashboard.

  1. Map rewards — such as assets, currencies, or progression points — to each Twitch Drop using the Twitch Reward ID.

  1. Choose whether to grant rewards through LootLocker’s built-in reward system, or manually reward players in your game client using our Operations Log, which tracks all rewards a player has received.

From the player’s perspective, it’s seamless. When they opt into a Twitch Drop campaign, they’ll be directed to an authentication flow hosted on https://auth.game, where they can link their Twitch account with their platform accounts (e.g. Steam, Epic, etc.). This allows LootLocker to identify the correct player and grant their rewards in-game automatically.

The Easiest Way to Power Twitch Drops

We believe this is the most straightforward and developer-friendly way to implement Twitch Drops today — and we can’t wait to see what you do with it.
