There is a LOT of game industry content out there to consume these days, and it often gets overwhelming. From traditional media, to social media and podcasts it can feel nearly impossible to keep up with the latest news, trends, and happenings in the games industry.

Recently we have found that newsletters have been a really great way to get distilled and curated content sent directly in your inbox. Here are three of our favorites:

Pause Button

https://pausebutton.substack.com/ The Pause Button is a weekly newsletter written by Fawzi Itani and Max Lowenthal who met while working at LinkedIn and bonded over their love for games. The newsletter was launched in 2019 and covers all things games - from design, technology, business, and the overall culture of the industry. Each newsletter includes a few big stories followed by smaller highlights, stats, and recommendations from the writers.

GameDiscoverCo

https://gamediscoverability.substack.com/ The GameDiscoverCo newsletter is written by industry veteran Simon Carless. While you might not recognize his name, he is the founder of the Independent Games Summit at GDC and the Independent Games Festival itself! The newsletter, which comes out frequently (up to every few days) looks at games discoverability. If you're working on a game, or have launched one recently, this newsletter is packed full of advice and anecdotes.

Elite Game Developers

https://elitegamedevelopers.com/newsletter/ While Elite Game Developers is known more commonly as the podcast hosted by ex-founder of Next Games Joakim Achrén, there is also a weekly newsletter that is equally as valuable - especially if you don't have time to listen to every episode of the podcast. The newsletter focuses around the entrepreneurial side of game development: from founding companies to raising money and looking for exit opportunities. Joakim has a lot of self-taught wisdom to share but also shares experiences from other founders and investors in the industry.

Stay up to date.
